After having an enjoyable breakfast at the hotel, there will be a day filled with exciting tours of Polonnaruwa, one of Sri Lanka’s renowned historical cities (In the 12th century the city was invaded and captured as the evidence shows in the statue of Lord Buddha and remains from the invasion. Despite all of that, however, the city is still well-known and is regarded as majestic; especially as the ruins of the city rest on an artificial lake to accentuate the natural beauty that permeates it). There are various attractions found in Polonnaruwa that you will be able to explore and visit such as: Parakrama Samudraya (sea of Parakrama), enormous statue of king Parakramabahu, Nissanka Lata Mandapaya (authentic pavilion with conventional architectures), Nelum Pokuna (lotus bath), etc. These areas will undoubtedly provide insight into the past and even present Sri Lankan culture. After which the group will return to the hotel for a time to relax and prepare for a trip into the golden city of Sri Lanka.
After enjoying an energizing breakfast the group will leave for Kandy (Kandy is often times dubbed as the golden city of Sri Lanka as it is representative of culture, customs and royalty, and attracts tourists worldwide to its natural aesthetic beauty),experiencing the pure natural beauty as we make this journey. At our arrival to Kandy you will have the prospect of visiting Dalada Maligawa (an area where the tooth relic of Lord Buddha resides. It is a Buddhist temple in Kandy and is the most reverential sites of worship for Buddhists worldwide). In the city of Kandy there will be chances to experience completely new traditions; interesting places to visit to see these traditions would be: Dalada Maligawa (temple of the Tooth Relic), Lankatilake and Gadaladeniya temples, the Royal Botanical Gardens, etc. The Golden city will surely not disappoint. Following this the group will head to the hotel Swiss Residence, Kandy, where there will be a chance to enjoy dinner and prepare for day 4.
After enjoying breakfast and packing up to leave the hotel, the journey to Pinnawala will begin, on the way there will be entrancing sights that will stick with you as you reminisce on the journey to Sri Lanka. Upon the arrival to Pinnawala we will visit the Pinnawala Elephant Orphanage (an exciting oppourtunity to witness the complete harmony with which these elephants interact as well as the happiness that exuberates from the baby elephants), there will be prospects of playing with these elephants, a once in a life time chance. Visitors have the option to bottle feed the baby elephants as well as document these moments electronically. Also, there will be an oppourtunity to feed the larger elephants. After an exciting day we will leave for the airport in accordance to your flight schedule.
